Decentralized Sensing

Roam transforms smartphones into passive connectivity sensors. Unlike active testing apps that require users to press “start,” Roam runs continuously in the background, collecting anonymized measurements as people move through their day:
  • Signal strength and quality (RSRP, SINR)
  • Network transitions (5G ↔ 4G handovers)
  • Latency, jitter, and throughput
  • Mobility behavior and geospatial context
This produces data that reflects real-world usage patterns (commuters on trains, workers in offices, families in homes) rather than artificial test scenarios on predetermined routes. For enterprise customers, the Roam SDK can be embedded directly into fleet management, logistics, and IoT applications, enabling B2B data collection that bypasses consumer app store restrictions entirely.

Verification & Anti-Gaming

Financial incentives attract adversarial behavior. Roam employs a zero-trust validation engine to ensure data integrity before any contribution qualifies for rewards:
GPS coordinates are cross-referenced against known cell-tower triangulation to detect location spoofing.
Cryptographic device signatures (Android KeyStore / iOS Secure Enclave) distinguish physical sensors from emulated environments.
Measurements are compared against recent data from the same area. If a node’s readings deviate significantly from the statistical mean of its peers without a verified hardware cause, its reward weight is slashed.
Nodes build on-chain reputation over time. Sudden anomalies from low-reputation nodes are automatically flagged.
This is what elevates Roam from a crowdsourced app to enterprise-grade infrastructure.

Privacy by Design

No raw personal identifiers are ever collected or exposed. Data is aggregated, anonymized, and validated through cross-corroboration rather than surveillance. The architecture is GDPR-compliant by design. No PII is stored on-chain or off-chain. Trust emerges from redundancy and statistical verification, not from monitoring individuals.

The Flywheel

Each new contributor increases coverage density, which improves prediction accuracy, which increases enterprise utility, which generates more revenue, which funds better rewards, which attracts more contributors. This compounding loop means Roam’s data moat deepens with every user, creating infrastructure that is exponentially harder for any centralized competitor to replicate. Roam Flywheel
